Tweakivo helps you configure an existing Windows installation and repeat your preferred settings on another computer. Its main features are:

Tweakivo is useful when setting up Windows after installation, removing unwanted applications or suggestions, changing desktop behavior, or transferring preferences between computers. ISO preparation, service configuration, and advanced processor settings are intended for users who understand what those features do.

Tweakivo first detects the current state of available settings. To apply changes, it uses the Windows registry and policies, system APIs, power settings, services, Task Scheduler, and PowerShell. Applications are installed through their supported sources and package managers, including WinGet and Chocolatey. Windows components and images are serviced using system tools, including DISM.

Some settings affect the current user; others affect the entire computer. Changes remain in Windows after you close Tweakivo. Certain operations restart File Explorer or another related process, and some changes require a computer restart.

The application is intended for Windows 10 and Windows 11 on x64 computers. Individual features depend on your Windows version, build, edition, hardware, and installed components. Use a ready-to-run Tweakivo release: users do not need the source code or development tools.

Tweakivo requests administrator privileges at startup because many operations change system settings.

There is no guaranteed FPS or performance increase. Tweakivo changes specific Windows settings. For example, disabling animations changes how the interface feels, while disabling a service may free resources at the cost of losing its functionality. Results depend on your computer, drivers, and workload. Change settings in small groups and check the results in the applications you actually use.

In Builder mode, optimization and customization settings initially reflect the current computer. You must select applications yourself. You can save a configuration, switch the target to Autounattend, and save an XML file during the same session.

In Config Review, settings that differ offer Apply and Don't Apply choices. Show Only Changes narrows the list. Normal application installation and removal actions are disabled in Builder and Config Review. Leaving these modes can discard unsaved choices.

Commands for applying recommended or default values can process a group of settings. Review the group's purpose before using them: recommendations may include disabling services or security features.

The Windows version filter hides settings that do not apply to your system. Turning it off lets you see settings for other versions, with compatibility indicators. This does not add missing features to Windows. Hardware and installed components are also taken into account.

The same feature may have separate variants for Windows 10, Windows 11, or specific builds. The number of cards on your computer may therefore differ from this reference.

Use section search, application sorting, and the View menu. The menu controls technical details, information badges, and NEW badges. Config Review also has a changes-only filter. Use Ctrl + Plus and Ctrl + Minus to change interface zoom; Ctrl + 0 restores the original zoom level.

Technical details show which underlying system setting is affected. You do not need to keep them open for everyday configuration.

This section contains built-in applications, Windows capabilities, and optional components. These are more than Start menu shortcuts: some provide underlying system functionality.

Available items and installation options depend on your Windows installation. Check each item's description, Installed / Not Installed status, and reinstallability indicator.

To install or remove items: find and select them, choose the installation or removal action, and confirm the list. Bulk selection, search, and sorting help you find applications and distinguish installed items from missing ones.

Can removed items be restored? Tweakivo supports reinstallation only for certain items. If an item is marked as non-reinstallable, do not assume that an install button will bring it back. Restoring a configuration does not itself recover deleted application files or data.

When removing Windows applications, you can retain removal scripts and their scheduled tasks. These remove unwanted components again if Windows reinstalls them later. You can include an item in the removal list even if it is not currently installed.

While the tasks remain active, removal can run again at startup or sign-in, depending on the task, even when Tweakivo is closed. Edge, OneDrive, and the general application list have separate removal mechanisms.

To stop recurring removal, open the help panel in Windows Apps and click the active icon for the relevant removal status. This deletes the associated script and task. It stops future removal; it does not reinstall the application. When you use a supported installation action in Tweakivo, the application also removes the corresponding entries from the removal mechanism.

The third-party application catalog lets you select multiple applications and install or remove them in one sequence. Tweakivo checks installation status and displays progress. The source and installation method depend on the application; downloads require internet access.

This section uses a predefined catalog, so it does not necessarily list every application installed on your computer. Updating all third-party applications is not a separate feature of this section.

Manage advertising, diagnostics, activity history, application permissions, AI features, and selected security settings.

Consider the effects: blocking the camera or microphone affects communication apps; disabling system AI models affects text recognition, including Snipping Tool; disabling Office connected services affects features that depend on them. Blocking automatic BitLocker encryption does not decrypt an already encrypted drive. Lowering UAC changes the protection around elevated actions.

Configure Game Mode, graphics, networking, background activity, services, scheduled tasks, visual effects, and accessibility keyboard shortcuts.

Graphics settings depend on the GPU, driver, and display: VRR and HDR require compatible hardware. Disabling VBS or Memory Integrity reduces system protection. Disabling printing, search, VPN, Remote Desktop, biometric, or Xbox services can break related functionality. Apply changes selectively.

Select an active power plan and adjust its behavior. The list may contain system and custom plans, plus presets such as Power Saver, Balanced, High Performance, Ultimate Performance, and Tweakivo Power Plan. Tweakivo can create a missing preset when you select it; availability depends on the system.

Supported settings provide separate Plugged In and On Battery values. Switching plans changes which values you edit. Higher performance can increase energy use, heat, and fan noise.

Check the units for timeouts. For some timers, zero means "Never." Choose battery thresholds and low-battery actions that suit your usage.

Control update delivery, restarts, driver updates, and Microsoft Store application updates. Security Updates Only is the name of a policy combination provided by Tweakivo; actual behavior also depends on the capabilities of your Windows installation.

A long pause and disabling updates are different modes. Paused updates can be resumed in Windows Settings. Disabling updates stops automatic delivery of fixes and should be a deliberate choice.

Control regular notifications, their sounds, lock-screen visibility, and individual system suggestions. You can remove promotional tips while keeping useful application messages. Turning off security notifications hides messages; it does not itself mean that protection is disabled.

Adjust system sounds, audio ducking during communications, voice activation, and accessibility sounds. These settings control Windows behavior; they are not an equalizer or sound-card quality controls.

Choose the Windows light or dark mode and transparency effects. Theme handling also includes related wallpaper actions; when importing a configuration, applying the theme's default wallpaper is a separate option.

Configure icons, search, button grouping, multiple-display behavior, and automatic hiding. Available features differ between Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Clean Taskbar removes pinned items, not the applications themselves. This is a separate action with confirmation. Do not treat a saved configuration as a complete backup of your previous shortcut layout.

Control the layout, application lists, recommendations, recent files, and web search. Appearance depends on your Windows build.

Clean Start Menu removes pinned items. On Windows 10, the clean layout applies to the current user and future profiles; other existing profiles require a separate run while signed in as the corresponding user. The confirmation dialog also lets you apply recommended Start menu settings.

Hiding the recommended section can affect related features, including Windows Spotlight on the lock screen and suggested content in Windows Settings. Tweakivo displays relationships between settings that control shared values.

Configure files, folders, the desktop, context menus, the navigation pane, devices, and regional formats to make everyday file management more convenient.

Showing hidden or system files only changes their visibility. SFC, DISM, and CHKDSK options add context-menu commands for later use; enabling a menu entry does not run a scan. Take Ownership changes access rights, so use it only on the files and folders you intend to modify.

autounattend.xml is an answer file for Windows Setup. It can apply supported customizations during installation. Tweakivo includes supported optimization and customization settings in the file and adds selected Windows applications to its removal list.

Selected Windows applications in Autounattend are marked for removal. Installing external applications through this mode is not supported yet; the corresponding Builder tab is locked.

1. Enter Builder mode and choose Autounattend as the target.
2. Choose settings in Optimize and Customize.
3. Select unwanted applications in Windows Apps. Leave the list unselected if you do not want to remove any applications.
4. Select Save autounattend.xml.
5. Add the file to installation media using WIMUtil, or place it in the root of prepared installation media.

Advanced Tools → Create Autounattend XML also offers generation from the current system settings and selected applications. The saved file must be named autounattend.xml. The generator uses settings available to Tweakivo; it does not transfer every possible Windows setting.

Yes. The built-in template includes commands to bypass several Windows 11 hardware checks, prepare initial setup with a local account, temporarily disable network adapters, and re-enable them at first sign-in. It also hides several initial setup screens, accepts the license agreement, and attempts to enable .NET Framework 3.5 from the installation media.

These are not individual switches in the current generator. The XML affects the installation process more broadly than a regular Tweakivo configuration file. It does not activate Windows or guarantee hardware compatibility. The interface does not yet provide a complete wizard for disk partitioning, user accounts, and all other Windows Setup options.

WIMUtil prepares a custom Windows installation ISO: it extracts the original image, adds an answer file and drivers, optionally converts the installation image format, and builds a new ISO.

Later steps become available after the working folder has been prepared successfully. If both install.wim and install.esd are found, WIMUtil asks you to keep one. Deleting an image file from the working folder requires confirmation.

What is the result? An ISO file containing the prepared installation files. Creating it does not install Windows on the current computer or automatically write a bootable USB drive. Use the resulting image as installation media when you are ready to install Windows.

A .tweaker file stores supported settings and selected application catalog items. Use it to repeat a setup or transfer preferences. It does not contain application installers, personal documents, a complete registry backup, or a system disk image.

In Normal mode, export saves the current configuration. In Builder mode, it saves the values you prepared without applying them to the running system.

1. Open Settings → Backup & Restore → Import, or enter Config Review mode.
2. Choose a source: your own file, recommended settings, a backup configuration, or Windows defaults.
3. Choose application actions: Install, Uninstall, or Select Only. Review the additional options for wallpaper, clearing the taskbar, and clearing the Start menu.
4. Review differences and keep the changes you want. For applications, select the relevant items and action; leave them unselected to skip them.
5. Select Apply Configuration and wait for completion.

The import dialog also offers Skip review and apply immediately. Choosing it skips the intermediate review of changes.

To use a restore point, open Windows System Restore and select the desired point. Tweakivo provides restore point creation, rather than its own full computer recovery wizard.

A configuration file does not replace a backup of personal files. Restoring settings does not guarantee recovery of removed applications, application data, or previous pinned-item layouts.

Yes, but review differences and compatibility before applying it. The other computer may have a different Windows build, hardware, power plans, or applications. A configuration cannot provide missing hardware features.

If Tweakivo reports an unsupported file version, changing the extension will not fix its format. Set the desired values in a compatible version of Tweakivo and export a new configuration.

No. Applied settings are stored in Windows. Saved scripts with scheduled tasks can continue running independently of the application's window.

Many local settings work offline. Internet access is needed to download applications or missing components, check Tweakivo updates, download external XML files, and obtain ISO preparation tools. Some Windows components may also need to download files.

Some changes require File Explorer to restart. The taskbar and desktop may briefly disappear and return. Wait for the operation to finish.

Several cards can control a shared Windows value. For example, recommendations, promotional content, and certain Start menu options are linked. Read the This setting also controls… notice and check the resulting state.

Check the card's compatibility information and description. The feature may be absent from your build, require particular hardware, or take effect after restarting a process or the computer. On a work computer, organizational policies may also control the value. Check the operation result and log, rather than relying only on the toggle position.

Updates can change system values or reinstall components. Check the settings again and reapply your saved configuration if needed. Supported Windows applications can also be removed repeatedly through the recurring-removal mechanism, if you enabled it.

Check the active removal tasks in the Windows Apps help panel. If the application remains in a saved removal list, it can be removed again. Disable the relevant mechanism or use a supported installation action in Tweakivo.

Tweakivo supports grouped recommendations and importing a recommended configuration. Review the contents first: a laptop, gaming PC, and work computer may need different services, permissions, and power settings. A Recommended label does not eliminate the described trade-offs.

Check the result of the specific operation and its detailed task output. Verify internet connectivity, source availability, and whether the item supports reinstallation. Refresh application status in the interface. If the error persists, open More → Tweakivo Logs and include the relevant error message when contacting support.

Start by importing the backup configuration and reviewing changes before applying them. If necessary, use a Windows restore point created before the changes. Windows defaults are a separate option and do not reproduce your previous personal settings.

Use the contents or your browser's Find command. Search for the name shown in the application, or a term such as "hibernation," "microphone," "taskbar," "OneDrive," or "updates."
